The North West Schools at the Heart of Our Programme

For more than 10 years, secondary schools across the North West have welcomed Spanish students into their classrooms — building friendships, enriching MFL lessons, and giving English pupils a cultural experience they never forget.

What Joining the Programme Means for Your School

No admin burden, real classroom impact.

Native Speakers in Your Classroom

Spanish students join MFL lessons as conversation partners — giving your pupils authentic practice with a real peer, not a textbook exercise.

Direct Funding to Your MFL Department

Schools in our network receive a direct payment to their MFL department each time they participate. No strings, no admin — just a thank-you for opening your classroom.

Real Cultural Exchange

Your pupils get something that can't be taught from a whiteboard — a genuine friendship with someone their age from another country. It changes how they think about languages.

Your Role Is Simple

Share the programme with your pupils and families — that's it. Language Link handles host family vetting, DBS checks, home visits, student welfare, and 24/7 support throughout the three weeks.

Haydn Royle

Founder & Director

Language Link International is a family business, not an agency. I've been coordinating cultural exchange programmes in the North West for more than 10 years, and I work directly with every school, every host family, and every student we place. I'm always happy to talk through the programme — just pick up the phone or drop me an email anytime.

I would recommend this programme to any school without reservation.

In a time when budgets often do not allow for foreign language assistants, it is an excellent way for our languages department to highlight the importance of learning foreign languages and motivate students to want to do so. It has had a positive impact on the uptake of Spanish in our school, and encouraged some to continue studying it onto A-level and beyond.

Interested in Joining the Network?

Fill in your details and Haydn will get back to you personally — usually within a day or two.

Interested in Hosting?

Your child's school doesn't need to be on this list. When you apply to host, Language Link contacts the school on your behalf to arrange everything — your school just needs to be willing to welcome a Spanish student for three weeks.

Not on the list yet?

This page shows schools where Language Link students have been placed as classroom buddies. If your school isn't listed, it simply means we haven't worked together yet — get in touch and let's change that.
